Rules

*In Junior Handling the skill of the handler is being judged not the dog.

Children between 6 & 16 present their dogs to the judge. Normally classes are split in two: 9-13 & 13-17years of age.

_*Judging*_

The handlers enter the ring with their dogs, once everyone is set up the judge will walk down the line to get his or her first impressions. Each dog & handler is judged individually. The judge will ask the handler to do a triangle then up and down showing their exhibit to the best of their ability. When everyone has been seen, the judge may walk down the 'lineup' a final time to make his or her final decision.

_*What the judge looks for in a Junior Handler:*_

Presentation - That the handler is smart and the dog is well presented.

Rapport - There is good communication between the handler & the dog they are showing.

At some shows the winner of each class compete against each other and the judge will pick an over all winner. The handler that wins will be given the title of Best Junior Handler.
